B2B fieldwork benchmarks: what incidence and cost look like in practice
Incidence assumptions carried over from consumer research are the usual reason a B2B study runs over. Here is what the field data actually shows.

Industries
Energy research spans a household deciding whether to switch tariff and an industrial buyer committing to a decade of supply. Both matter, and they need different fieldwork.
Research solutions
Satisfaction, tariff comprehension, switching behaviour and affordability research across general population samples, including hard-to-reach and off-grid households.
Energy managers, facilities leads and procurement decision-makers in commercial and industrial organisations, sampled by consumption band and sector.
Attitudes to renewables, heat pumps, solar, EV charging and demand-side flexibility, with the gap between stated intent and actual behaviour measured rather than assumed away.
How we work in this sector
Energy research often reaches households in real difficulty. Interviewers are briefed on how to handle disclosure, what support routes exist locally and when to stop an interview. That briefing is not optional on these studies.
Stated willingness to adopt a low-carbon technology consistently overstates adoption. We design for that — behavioural anchors, cost framing and commitment measures — rather than reporting an intention figure that will not survive contact with a quote.
Where research feeds a regulatory submission, the sampling and weighting have to be defensible line by line. We document them to that standard from the start rather than reconstructing the rationale afterwards.
