Product Placement Research

A concept test tells you what people say about a product. A placement tells you what happens when it sits in their kitchen for six weeks, which is usually a different story.

The research design is the easy part; the logistics are what make these studies fail. We handle shipping, customs, tracking, reminders, recovery and disposal as part of the project.

  • In-home usage testing (IHUT) and extended placements
  • Diary and longitudinal usage studies
  • Sensory and taste evaluation protocols
  • Product shipping, tracking, recovery and disposal

Our capabilities

What our product placement research service covers

We own the workflow end to end, which is what makes a single point of accountability possible rather than just claimable.

In-home usage testing

Single and sequential monadic placements with structured usage protocols and mid-placement check-ins to keep compliance up.

Diary and longitudinal studies

App, web or paper diaries over weeks or months, with reminder cadence tuned to keep completion high without training the respondent.

Sensory evaluation

Controlled taste, scent and texture evaluation with protocol design, palate cleansing routines and blinded product coding.

Product logistics

Shipping, customs documentation, batch tracking, replacement units and full reconciliation of what went out and what came back.

Compliance monitoring

Usage compliance tracked during the placement, so a respondent who has not opened the product is identified while there is still time to act.

Recovery and disposal

Return logistics for unused product, and documented disposal where the client requires it for confidential or regulated goods.

Included in every project

Standard on every engagement, not an upgrade

The same six things are included whichever service a project starts from. They are the reason our quotes look like they do.

Screening design

We work through your screener with you before fieldwork opens — quota alignment, incidence estimation and disqualification logic, agreed in writing.

Multi-source recruitment

Our own panel across core markets plus a vetted partner network reaching 35+ countries. No single source carries a project; diversity of sourcing is what keeps the sample honest.

Layered quality assurance

Screener validation, digital fingerprinting against duplicates, automated response scoring, analyst review and post-field back-checking where the study calls for it.

Confirmation and scheduling

Reminder workflows for qualitative work, with standby replacements held as standard so a no-show does not become a gap in your data.

Incidence reporting

Funnel data and incidence rates before and during fieldwork, so a feasibility problem reaches you while there is still time to act on it.

A named project manager

One person accountable from brief to delivery, with daily field updates — not a shared inbox and not a ticket queue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — product placement research

Can you ship product internationally?
Yes, including customs documentation. Regulated categories such as cosmetics, supplements and alcohol need longer lead times, and we will tell you what those are up front.
How long can a placement run?
Typically four to twelve weeks. Longer placements are possible with an incentive structure designed to hold attrition down.
How do you keep diary completion up?
Reminder cadence matched to the diary burden, mid-placement contact from a named coordinator, and incentive structures that reward completion rather than enrolment.
Do you recover unused product?
Yes where the client requires it, with reconciliation against what was shipped and documented disposal for confidential material.
