B2B fieldwork benchmarks: what incidence and cost look like in practice
Incidence assumptions carried over from consumer research are the usual reason a B2B study runs over. Here is what the field data actually shows.

Industries
Technology research usually means reaching people who are difficult to reach and easy to fake: IT decision-makers, developers, security leads and the executives who sign off the budget.
Research solutions
Verified by company size, sector, technology estate and actual decision authority rather than a job title typed into a panel profile.
Usage research, feature prioritisation, onboarding and churn studies with users recruited from your own base or from the market.
Engineers, architects and security practitioners, reached through professional communities rather than general panels, and screened on demonstrable knowledge.
How we work in this sector
Technology B2B has the highest rate of respondent misrepresentation we see anywhere, because the incentive is good and the profile is easy to claim. We verify company, role and authority separately, screen on knowledge that a non-practitioner cannot fake, and check consistency between the screener and the survey itself.
An IT decision at a 50-person company and at a 50,000-person company are different decisions made by different people through different processes. We sample and quota them as distinct populations rather than a single band with a firmographic cut applied afterwards.
Questionnaires written for last year's stack produce data that looks fine and means little. We flag where terminology, deployment models or role definitions have moved on, before the instrument goes into field.
