Data Tabulation

Data processing is the least visible part of a research project and the easiest place for an error to survive all the way into a client presentation. We treat it as a stage with its own checks rather than a file conversion at the end of fieldwork.

Every dataset is cleaned, de-duplicated, logic-checked and weighted before it is tabulated, and the tabulation is reviewed against the banner specification by someone who did not build it.

  • Cross-tabulation and banner programming for quantitative studies
  • Open-end coding, verbatim processing and sentiment categorisation
  • Delivery in SPSS, Excel, Quantum/Dimensions and custom formats
  • Data cleaning, weighting and logic checking included as standard

Our capabilities

What our data tabulation service covers

We own the workflow end to end, which is what makes a single point of accountability possible rather than just claimable.

Cross-tabulation and banners

Banner programming to your specification, including nets, significance testing and derived variables, with a tab spec agreed before the first table is built.

Open-end coding

Code frame development, verbatim coding and sentiment categorisation, in the study language and in translation where the client team does not read the market.

Data cleaning and validation

Speeder and straight-liner removal, duplicate detection, range and logic checks, and an audit note explaining every record removed.

Weighting

Rim and cell weighting to agreed population targets, with efficiency reported so you know what the weighting cost you in effective base.

Flexible deliverables

SPSS, Excel, CSV, Quantum and Dimensions outputs, plus dashboard-ready extracts where the data feeds a reporting platform rather than a deck.

Tracker continuity

Wave-on-wave consistency for tracking studies, with the code frames, weighting scheme and banner held stable and any change documented.

Included in every project

Standard on every engagement, not an upgrade

The same six things are included whichever service a project starts from. They are the reason our quotes look like they do.

Screening design

We work through your screener with you before fieldwork opens — quota alignment, incidence estimation and disqualification logic, agreed in writing.

Multi-source recruitment

Our own panel across core markets plus a vetted partner network reaching 35+ countries. No single source carries a project; diversity of sourcing is what keeps the sample honest.

Layered quality assurance

Screener validation, digital fingerprinting against duplicates, automated response scoring, analyst review and post-field back-checking where the study calls for it.

Confirmation and scheduling

Reminder workflows for qualitative work, with standby replacements held as standard so a no-show does not become a gap in your data.

Incidence reporting

Funnel data and incidence rates before and during fieldwork, so a feasibility problem reaches you while there is still time to act on it.

A named project manager

One person accountable from brief to delivery, with daily field updates — not a shared inbox and not a ticket queue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — data tabulation

What formats can you deliver in?
SPSS (.sav), Excel, CSV, Quantum, Dimensions and custom flat files. If your analysts have a house layout, send an example and we will match it.
How long does tabulation take?
A standard banner on a clean dataset is usually 48 hours from final data. Complex derived variables, large code frames or multi-country harmonisation extend that, and we will say so up front.
Can you process data we collected ourselves?
Yes. Data processing is available as a standalone service whether or not we ran the fieldwork.
Do you handle multi-country harmonisation?
Yes — harmonised code frames, aligned variable naming and a single stacked dataset across markets, with per-market files delivered alongside.
What happens if the data has quality problems?
You hear about it before the tables are built, with the affected records identified and a recommendation. We do not quietly clean away a problem that changes what the data means.

Send us the brief. We will tell you what is feasible.

Feasibility, incidence and costs within one working day — including the markets where your target, as written, is not achievable.
